They met at a garden party in late September, the kind that runs long past dark. Julian found the only empty seat at Genevieve's table just as the lanterns were lit. They talked while the garden emptied around them, and were still talking when the last candle burned down.
A spontaneous weekend at a cabin deep in the pines became the first of many. Fog kept to the trails, and so did they. They walked beneath dripping branches by day, read aloud by the fire at night, and learned that some silences are better shared.
On a mist-heavy morning in an old-growth forest, Julian led Genevieve off the trail to a clearing carpeted in moss. He had carried the ring for three months, waiting for a place old enough to keep the secret. The trees witnessed everything. They told no one.
And now, beneath a canopy of ancient oaks strung with lanterns, surrounded by every soul who shaped their story, they will speak the words aloud. The forest has been waiting.
The forest is old, but the way in is level. Here is exactly what to expect underfoot.
A paved, step-free path runs from the parking area to the clearing and on into the conservatory. There are no stairs anywhere on that route.
Chairs are set for the whole ceremony, and cushioned seats with backs are held at the rear of the clearing and just inside the conservatory. Tell any usher and they will walk you straight there.
Inside the conservatory, first door on the left past the entrance. Same level as the reception, no steps.
Valet will set you down within 40 feet (12 metres) of the clearing entrance. Accessible spaces are marked nearest the path.
The ceremony floor is grass and packed earth, which goes soft after rain. The last 30 feet of the garden path is gravel, but walkers and wheelchairs manage it fine, and an arm is always available. Heel protectors are waiting at the path's edge.

The wedding is Saturday, but the wood is ours from Friday evening. Come for what you can.
One long table, a short rehearsal, and the toasts that will not fit into Saturday.
Mulled cider and a fire already lit, to greet everyone who came a long way.
Vows in the clearing beneath the ancient oaks, then a feast beneath glass until the last dance.
Coffee, pastries, and the retelling of everything you missed.
If the journey is too far, the clearing will come to you. We are streaming the ceremony live, opening fifteen minutes early so you can settle in before the vows.

Our DJ has a list. It is not a long list, and it is only about half good. Your votes, your ballads, and your unhinged 2 AM choices make it complete.
Your presence is gift enough. Should you wish to honour us further, we have curated a small list.
A few places we love, for the hours between the events.
Low ceilings, older shelves, and the best cortado between here and Hartford.
Dark wood, good oysters, a fire going from September onward.
Three floors of other people's history. Bring cash and patience.
Mist coming off the river at eight in the morning is worth the alarm.
An hour through the valley while the leaves turn. Unreasonably lovely.
